I have returned from emergency leave to Afghanistan. I'm glad my family and I had a chance to visit with both of you before heading back. We have been very busy with the Counter Insurgency Operations over here. More and more Troops deploying to theater everyday. It has become a very busy place. The snow is almost gone, but the wind and dust are back. I am now in double digits of a year long deployment. I know everyone that has deployed knows how that feels. Sorry I did not get a chance to bring my younger son by the monthly meeting so you could see the improvements, but I will make a point of it when I return in August. A.J. (his service dog) and all the special help he has been receiving is really paying off. He is starting to put more sentences together and he hasn't strayed from the house since A.J arrived!! Here are a couple of picture to give you an idea the terrain we are up against. In most of my area of operations I can not take MRAPs (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) Vehicles because they are too big. In the less mountainous area we use those vehicles. A lot of the time it is on foot.
Thank you for everything the Legion has done for the Troops and especially my family. See you soon,
MAJ GLENN MUNDT Civil Affairs Team Leader PRT Parwan-PRT Kapisa Kapisa, Afghanistan
Here is an update from Afghanistan. I am currently serving in a Provisional Reconstruction Team (PRT) as I mentioned before. The base reminds me very much of Mexico, San Felipe, Mexico or Las Vegas. The mountains, weather, and dust. I am trying to really get in to my duties to make time pass faster. I will try and send some pictures when I get a chance.
